    Cable fault tester is one of the commonly used devices for detecting cable faults. Its performance is stable, and it can quickly and accurately identify the fault point. Maintenance personnel can quickly carry out maintenance work, greatly improving work efficiency. The selection of cable fault testers is also a concern for many friends.     Another situation of power supply analysis: In recent years, 80% of cable fault testers have been damaged due to poor wiring or wiring errors caused by high-voltage flashing, resulting in high-voltage signals entering the host and causing instrument damage. If battery power is used, even if high-voltage signals enter, they do not form a circuit to the ground and can only cause common mode effects, thus completely avoiding machine damage accidents.

    Reasons why laptops and collectors are not suitable for on-site cable fault testing

    1. The on-site environment is not suitable for the use of laptops. Generally speaking, laptops are more delicate and suitable for office or business trips. But most of the cable fault tests are conducted in substations or outdoors, with high levels of dust, interference, and complex environments, which will greatly shorten the service life of laptops. And the sampling waveform is also not good.

    2. The switch power supply of a laptop can generally only be used when there is a small impact on the power grid, and when high-voltage flashing is performed for cable faults, the fluctuation of the power grid is large, which can easily cause damage to the laptop's power supply. Therefore, when testing high-voltage flashing with a laptop, it is emphasized to disconnect the charging power supply and use the built-in battery for testing.

    3. Due to user wiring errors, high voltage string into the laptop computer is a common issue in cable fault testing, where high voltage string into the tester is caused by wiring problems. The impact resistance of laptops is very weak, and high voltage entering the laptop through the test line collector will ultimately cause damage to the laptop interface. We have encountered several examples of such lessons among our clients. Although current sampling can improve the safety of equipment at present, it is difficult to identify the waveform of close range faults due to the chaotic nature of current sampling, which often leads to misjudgment when testing close range faults.

    4. Computer viruses will affect the normal use of devices. Such problems may seem unrelated to our devices, but users inevitably expose their computers to various computer viruses during normal use. When cables have problems, various problems may arise when they are taken out for use, and they may not work properly. This leads to delayed power supply.

    Nowadays, advanced cable fault testers should be equipped with interfaces for communication with computers. Choose a cable fault tester with a computer interface and use it on site for testing. After the test is completed, the test waveform needs to be saved and uploaded to a laptop or other computer for archiving, analysis, and production of test reports. It should be the best procurement plan.
